Child Data Policy
Most of the people whose information sits in a school system are children. These commitments apply to every school on the platform and sit alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. School purposes only
Student information is collected and used only for running the school: admissions, attendance, timetables, fees, results, transport and communication with parents. It is recorded by the school, with the consent of parents or guardians that the school obtains as required by Indian law.
2. No advertising, no profiling, no sale
- There are no advertisements in the parent app or teacher app.
- Student data is never used for advertising, marketing to families or building behavioural profiles.
- Student data is never sold, rented or shared with anyone for their own purposes.
3. Need-to-know access
- Student photos, marks and contact details are visible only to authorised school staff and the child's own parents or guardians.
- Teachers see the classes they teach. Accounts staff see fee records. Principals see their own campus. Group leaders see only what their role allows.
- Parent mobile numbers are not shown to other parents, and teachers can message parents without sharing personal numbers.
4. Bus tracking with limits
- Live bus location is shown only to parents of children assigned to that bus.
- It is shown only during trip times set by the school, not around the clock.
- The platform tracks the vehicle, not the child's phone.
5. AI is for teachers, not children
- Students do not chat with or use the AI Teacher Assistant.
- The assistant works from syllabus content and teacher requests. Student names, marks and contact details are not sent to it.
- Every AI draft is reviewed and approved by a teacher before it reaches a class.
- AI-suggested report card remarks are always edited and approved by the class teacher.
6. Photos and preschool updates
Photos shared in activity updates are visible only to parents of children in that class. Schools can turn off photo sharing, and parents can ask the school not to include their child in shared photos.
7. Security and law
Student data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is logged, and the platform is operated in line with Indian data-protection law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its rules on the data of children.
8. When a child leaves
When a student leaves, the school keeps the records it needs, such as transfer certificates and past report cards, and can delete the rest. When a school stops using the platform, it can export everything, after which the data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Concerns
Parents with a concern about their child's information should first speak to the school. Schools, and parents who cannot resolve a concern with their school, can write to us from the Connect Team page.
